Telok Blangah Towers

Ta-da, our new flat!

After many days of waiting, it's finally our turn for the flat selection. Most of the high seaview units were already wiped out since the selection started on 25th Jan. And as of yesterday, the highest level we can get are lower than level 15 from both 80a and 80c. But our focus is actually on blk 80a and unit 105. Lots of reasons, due to the condo that might block 80c's view, due to the sun direction and floor space and all. Eventually, our new address is

Blk 80A Telok Blangah Street 31 #XX-105!
Not a high unit, considering that the highest is #38. As we were pretty insistent that we should get a seaview unit, we actually forgo the higher cityview units. Nothing much as well, cos the land in front of the cityview units is a reserved site for future high-rise development.

Something interesting with the numbers, almost everything in our address has something to do with zhiwei. To prove some ownership on my part, how about my rugby jersey used to be 31? haha.

Anyway, there's super a lot of paperwork to do, lots of documents to sign and it's not over yet. the next appt will be about 3 mths later for the 5% downpayment, and according to the admin personnel, the paperwork will be twice of today's. faints!

Lessons learnt:1. Do your homework before you go down for the flat selection, know what u want! Very important!!!

Cos it's quite competitve inside the selection counters. There were 3 counters serving 3 different queue numbers today. And we were the last among the 3 to be called in and yet, we were the fastest to settle everything.

The couple whom appt is scheduled at 815am was still inside by the time we were done (our scheduled time was 845am). And we saw them walking in and out of the rooms to look at the models for our estates, probably still choosing which units they want. faints.

If possible, do a reckee on the actual site to see for yourself the approximate positioning of the units provided cos it kinda smoothens the whole decision-making process yah.

2. Be there early. Of course dont have to be exceptionally early, perhaps at least 30 min? We were at hdb at 8am even though our selection is at 845am. After we registered at the reception, we were given a queue number which is the same as our balloting number. That is to say, they will go according to the scheduled timing unless the applicants before you is late. However, we were quite lucky as we were called in at 835am. Most probably it was because there was still an available counter and also, since we were already there.

3. Prepare all the required documents (original & phtotcopies) beforehand. As we had already photocopied every documents, the whole process was very fast. All we had to do was to verify and sign.

Some experience to share. haha. Can ask me for help when it's your turn though, no charges.

the optional bedroom & bathroom doors. 5 for $1890, quite solid.

the tiles & flooring.

The flat will only be ready by 31st July 2013, still a long way to go. Meanwhile, we still have 5 years to save for the renovation and the remaining downpayment.

I need more money!

A happy note, I'm allowed to place a mahjong table in our new home! Yippes! =)
