yet another weekend.

kickstarted the weekends with lots and lots of food with both my tt comrades and the gang. it's simply sinful, fattening and argh, what more can i say?

had a late and super-duper satisfying (and, to some extent, i-feel-like-puking) food at jack's place with my tt comrades at parkway this afternoon. we were too hungry and engrossed with our food to take any pics yah. but, i did some shoots while inside alvin's car. =)

the verdict is: jack place still serves good food and the student meals are dirt cheap, or rather, damn affordable la. ala carte is almost 150% more ex yeah! a pity that we cant get student prices anymore. shrugs.

nightfall came and i proceed to holland.v's harry. when i reached at 8 plus (note: lunch was at 3pm) , astonishment overwhelmed me as i saw lots of meat and deep fried foodies on the table. i really wanted to puke at that moment, i was so, so, so bloody full from the jack's place and more yummilicious western platter? also, almost the whole gang had turned up. see my contradiction? i really wanted to eat again but not only did my stomach say no, my heart veto to it too. i just couldnt face anymore food until i had a few sips of my tasty harry bellini. i heart! =) the jumbo platter @ harry is fantastic! thanks chang for ordering, love it!!! i would have finished up everything if not for the bloat in my stomach. haha.

no pics taken, but the platter is a three-tier combination of spicy chicken wings & drumlets with wedges, fried spring rolls and samosas, and calamaris with fish fillets. bagus! of course, it came with three different dips, cheese, sweet & sour and some sourish dip which i didnt try. hee.

nowadays, we couldnt seem to stay put in one place. after we called for the bill, we switched over to wala thinking we could catch some live band and more drinks but alas, we couldnt even get access to upstairs, much less any seats. wala was damn crowded! so we've decided to visit this bistro place opened by yc's friend further down, 2am dessertbar. the ambience is gorgeous and i bet bth the roommie & the partner will love it there, just that the partner will like it more, cos it's a girlies thingy. haha, it's a really comfy place. couldnt get a shoot of the sofa seats though cos they were constantly occupied by patrons.

we ordered a variety of food.
first up is gracie's prawn linguini, i tried a mouth, yes nicely cooked but the portion looks rather small. haha.

and then, tada! all the desserts!!! drey's chocolate tart, my twix, yc's blackberry and chang's tiramisu. and lastly, the green tea malted cookies were on the house. =) all tastes good and both the chocolate and expresso ice-cream were home-made. yums. but of course, personally, i felt that yc's blackberry which comprises of small balls of sorbet is not very value for money la, no matter how refreshing they tasted, haha. i love my twix though, it's a mix chocolate moouse, caramel, and peanut crumbles, so chocolaty!

the whole bill came up to $130.90. ha, up to you to decide if it's worth it. no doubt we can appreciate it, but guess we're still pretty much heartlanders within to say we're willing to spend so much bucks on them. er, get what i mean?

anyway, the roommie gave me a sweet surprise the other day. a multi-colour pen!!! hee, it's what i wanted. thanks baby.

Cambodia Part III

yes, finally. looking at the amount of pics just make me wanna faint. so let's start with the angkor wat! but before we can get in, we need to get ourselves each a pass. we bought a 3-days pass which cost us US40. the rationale for gettin a 3-days pass is simple:
1. u cant complete in 1 day,
2. there's no 2 days pass,
3. the 1 day pass alone costs US20.

we reached the main entrance at around 530am to get our passes, so as to be in time for the sunrise at angkor wat yah. one interesting culture in cambodia is integrity. the roommie and i reckon that there are other ways to get into the angkor area via other routes even without the pass; that's because the entire area is not enclosed with any gates nor fences. however, all the drivers, be them be tuk-tuk, cars, vans, buses, will definitely bring their passengers to each attractions via the main gate where passes are checked. and even if you have forgotten your pass, they will not try to 'cham xiong' with the gatekeepers to help you get in. they will either send you back to the resort to get the passes or get new ones.

we know because jimmy told us so, and we were nearly sent back to the resort because we didnt have the passes. why nearly? we really didnt have the passes cos we havent bought them but our driver thought we forgot. haha. oh, and they will take a photo of each visitor when purchasin the pass. for security and identification purposes i guess. this is how we look like at 530am.

sunrise at angkor wat. couldnt really 'see' it cos the sky was too cloudy, somehow, the sky just brightens without a trace. haha. and there are a lot of tourists...

we done some exploration to the entire place before we headed back to the resort for breakfast. yeah some exploration because we realize that we didnt cover the area enough after we got back to singapore, but yet, we were there for close to 2.5 hours.

saw the bottle of water in one of the pics? that's life-saver item no 4, will die from dehydration without it. hahha. and check out the picture below, see how tiny the roommie is compared to the architecture. forgot if it's this structure or the other one where a tourist fell to death just last year. then, it was enclosed for reconstruction after that, overheard one of the guides telling his people. that's why there were lots of signs to warn tourists bout 'no sitting', 'no climbing' and stuff.

and this is angkor wat for u. there's still angkor thom, the terraces of the elephants, bayon, etc...and the different attractions along the great circuit and of course, banteay srei...

more ramblings...

just completed my weekly accountability and it looked shitty, hell.

yes, my cambodia photos...not now. right, im still a procrastinator.

just wanted to type a quick post tonight cos there aint enough hours for sleep if i am to type a grandmama's story.

you know what's life? life is being able to binge on junk food and savour the foodies. life is bout doing nothing and chatting over a cup of coffee or frappa. life is being able to do what you want and nothing else matters. life is being able to do every of the above and not think of the costs (though sometimes i still feel we spend excessively). life is being simple. i think i had a couple of 'life is good' instances this week, definitely boosted my happiness level. at the same time, not a good indicator of my working hours. haha.

the roommate and i at mr bean cafe again, for our late dinner. not to be misunderstood, but we did our share of work today. =) felt that mr bean cafe changed a bit. if not for its reputation and the wonderful memories it brought us, the services we received today are simply atrocious. food is still great though, that's what more important. we had a pizza, a sausage platter and the ever-yummilicious seafood soup! unfortunately, the prices were jacked up by quite a bit.

due to the unsatisfactory service, we went to elsewhere for our coffee. ended up in my latest favourite hangout place, pacific coffee. good environment, nice ambience and almost by the sea. 4/5! =)

and it's great to have your own transport, it kinda perfects everything. (less the petrol prices of course!) sadly, gettin a car now is still not within my means. soon soon soon...
