what if you had lost 3 years of your memory?

what would you do?

was reading a book and the thought just sparked off. imagine you wake up tomorrow and thought it's still 2005. what happened to 2006, 2007 and 2008? guess it's frightening, isnt it? especially when what you remember dont tally with what is happening or has happened to your life; especially when you are married and yet, you dont even remember nor know the man who sleeps right next to you; especially when friends that you grow up with have turned their backs on you and your new-found best friend is a total stranger. you get the drift?

food for thought: who will you trust, or rather, will you choose to trust no one?

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

on a heavier note, the singaporean woman who was held hostage at mumbai had fallen victim to terrorism and their irrational attacks. whatever it is, i just hope the family and friends will move on strong.

the hottest place of interest in town.

i supposed it will be none other than the singapore flier yeah even though i have not been there yet. >.<

the partner was 'complaining' that my recent entries lack pictures, thus let me then post the photos taken by my dad when both himself and mummy were on board the glassy capsule. =) er, all i can say is nice scenery! haha.

talkin about the local places of interest, i supposed the list has kind of modified and all yeah. all the way back to primary school days, we had frequent excursions to the zoo, birdpark, crocodile farm, haw par villa and singapore science centre. then as we aged, crocodile farm became reptile park, we moved on to singapore discovery centre and different parts of sentosa and from then on, it was sentosa, sentosa and sentosa. realizing the 'lack of variety' by probably the STB, the night safari was built and haw par villa was gone. and in the recent years, there were more rides such as the hippo bus, duck tours and likes. and you know what, they're damn expensive. argh, dont you wonder why are they so ex? oh, and the boat rides cruising along boat quay, how many of us have been on it? hee, actually i did but that was eons ago.

no matter what, i still heart the zoo. remember this?

"we're going to the zoo, zoo, zoo!
how about you, you, you?
you can come too, too, too,
we're going to the zoo, zoo, zoo! "

haha, give me our singapore zoo anytime!

diary hunting for 2009

was glancin through my entries earlier this year and i saw that i post a picture of my diary 2008. in fact, i have been looking around for diary 2009, any good recommendations?

came across 2 this afternoon at 'times' and i nearly bought 1 of them home. the 1st one that i saw was really practical and cheap and kinda retro but wasnt quite to my liking. i really loved the 2nd one though, a pity they didnt have new pieces and i couldnt bear to buy the other colour (pink) cos it's totally not me. the one i wanted was a white piece, simple and real classic. i even went to annbc (is this how i spell it?), mph, and artbox. so far, the white piece is the most ideal of all. as i was telling the roommate, a diary is very personal because it remembers all its' owner's schedules and contains her little notes and important dates and precious stickers and everything that is happening to her life that year. thus, i really need to get a diary 2009 which i feel for and not any other notebooks and like. sigh guys, will they ever understand? i doubt so.

nevertheless, do let me in if there's a good buy k!

more about man vs woman

further into our discussion of man vs woman, the roommate was saying there are 3 things a woman can do to win an argument and they usually work.

they are, tadada...

1. be logical and argue your way out
(that is if we are right in the first place. but if we arent, 2 works better. and from my experience, women are usually illogical after a few exchanges, so...)

2. confused the man by acting blur, sweet and unreasonable at the same time.
(yeah, i know that blur, sweet and unreasonable dont seem to belong to the same side but ya know, try different tactics and see which one works)

3. and if both 1 & 2 dont work, here comes the most powerful technique -

CRY!

confirm sure win. haha.

bird-shitted

yucks. i was 'lucky' today.

was walking from fort cannin carpark back to office with the roommate and shrugs, i was bird-shitted.

anway, the story began when the roommate and i went back to get the bottle of orange juice which i had so conveniently forgot. after which, i passed on the bottle to him and last i saw, he was meddling with the bottle of juice. and almost instantly, i felt a drop of something on my shoulder. my immediate reaction was to throw him a killer-stare. as expected, the drop looks kinda orangey on my tanned skin. realizing the trouble he got into, he said: 'i havent even open the bottle yet!', and i said 'yeah right'. then, it caught him that the drop might be a bird's poo. sweats, i nearly wiped it off with my bare hands. and indeed, the poo dried up as i was makin my way to the ladies. gross and disgusted.

i never thought this can happen to anyone, even though i've heard stories about peeps being bird-shitted in the hair and all. i hear their stories, i have a good laugh. or rather, i never thought i will experience this, be it the so-called lucky or not. but definitely, one thing i learnt about karma is, you never know when it comes to you. but when it comes, it comes. at least i get it 'small', thank god for it. urgh!

man vs woman

the roommate just made a statement of the week last night.
assuming everything constant, as age catches on with us...

"man appreciates while woman only depreciates"

hate to admit but isnt this so true? in fact, i kind of gave up after a few exchanges of thoughts and opinions. im simply too lazy to consolidate my arguments and all. honestly, im one who doesnt support the assertion regarding equality between man and woman; im perfectly fine with woman being the less priviledged party. the guys can always do the job, just get it done, period. as long as the man can provide us with a shelther, enough food and water and enough money to spend and splurge and save , does it really matter that man and woman must have definite equal rights?

well, i beg to differ!

my favourite haunt.

yes nectarie of course. honestly, guess i will only move on to search for other hangouts when i have savoured all the cakes available on the shelves.

today's cake is strawberry shortcake. once upon a time, four leaves' strawberry shortcake is one of the best that i have tasted. but after tonight, nectarie still wins hands down in the cakes category. the sponge cake is so soft and melts in the mouth. and of course, they've already scored many points with their presentation. as for the berries, haha, let's put it that other than cherries, there're no sweet berries around. =)

so here u have it, nectarie's strawberry shortcake.

the whole experience makes me wanna learn bakery yeah, the little knowledge i've gained via home econs can only take me no further than oatmeal cookies. and the only cake i've tried doing is the non-bake cheesecake, which is super nice. come to think of it, it's kinda cool to be able to bake all sorts of cakes issnt it? ha.

anyway, as we were sitting outside nectarie and people-watching, the roommate and i started this discussion on females' fashion for nightspots like clarke quay and their intentions based on their clothing. so as each individual walked pass, he will start commenting whether they're overdress, here to hook a guy, nice, hot and stuff like this. lots of eye-candies around tonight, perhaps due to the start of school holidays. and it's saddening to see a bunch of sweet young things and another bunch of lao char bos (no matter how chio they are) cos you know somewhere down the years, the sweet young things will also become the lao char bos..and i supposed that's where i belong now, the lao char bos club.

but guess what, at least i have more spending power. haha. ya know how people always talk bout having the best of both worlds? wake up your ideas, we've got to be practical!

updates.

yes, i havent been updating. not that im busy at work. alright, perhaps yes, i've been busy rescheduling appointments. think i need to visit the temple soon; whoever up there, i need help to tide me off these 2 months. pleeeassseeeee. somewhat, my schedules are a bit screwed since oct. but being taught to be positive at all times, im going to get real lucky soon!

while everyone is lookin forward to xmas and the holidays, year-end always give me the "ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR", as if im suddenly slapped in the face. get it?

shrugs. in short, work is off at the moment and i definitely need some crazy alcoholic-session. i have resorted to drinkin my choya and some whisky at home already. u guys hear me, please jio me k. haha, i sound damn desperate.

right, some updates. foodie time!!!

went for fullerton's hi-tea the other day with the partner and phoebe, expensive but we had a great time. i've only got with me 2 pictures, ta-da, the rest are as usual, with the partner. haha. anyway, we were damn hungry that day and all three of us were busy savouring the sandwiches, scones and desserts that none took attention to snap some nice pics. grin. the smoked salmon sandwich is very good.

and i met up with TT at insomnia, chjimes. the food there is quite good but dont try changing their menu, they cant really handle creativity. the reason being, my gf changed her seafood mariana only to retain the squids and prawns, and her pasta sauce to a cream one instead of tomato-based. so there, it was quite dry and not nice. haha. my steak was good, and so was the lamb rack. didnt manage to taste the chicken breasts though, it looks good nevertheless. but i always enjoy an outing with them and one of us is going to get married soon, it's so much fun discussing bout other people's stuff! speaking of which, i realize that a lot of people are getting married these days or is it because im getting older?

when moods are a bit down, chocolates are our saviour. no matter, chocolate are great for gathering too! we ordered this crunchie chocolate fudge cake 2 weeks ago, yummy but not as potent as the crunchie chocolate drink i had at prive. anyway, we got the cake from choc.a.bloc,
no direct purchase as all cakes have to be ordered 3 days in advance of the event. this is how popular the cakes are! the shop's located in bedok, within walkin distance from the famous 85-mrkt supper place yeah. =)

more cakes! blackforest bought from one of the cakeshops in the neighbourhood. the only special thing bout it is that it's my dad's birthday cake! grin.

ha, think my blog is becomin a food-blog soon. hopefully not. saw this very interesting sight the other night after i parked the car.

what the toots right? i didnt really examine the coupons and check out when this car is going to park till. but this is definitely the first time i see this in a hdb carpark. hdb carpark, mind u! i dont even get to such instance below my office where the summon aunty comes as and when she likes. haha.

and i saw this buidling near jalan besar last week, it was dated year 19xx which i didnt manage to capture and which i have forgotten as well. guess it has been through world war 2? interesting yeah. sometimes, i wonder what these buildings are doing in modern times like now. are they serving as historical momuments, just some conserved buildings to symbolize the area or have they turned into some foreign workers residential bunks (since it's quite near little india) or otherwise? i bet there are more of these structures lying around in the whole of singapore. maybe i should cover an episode of discovery singapore ar. haha.

since im on this, does anyone know of this really big house further in bukit chermin road? in fact, it is very near keppel club. that place has always been a mystery to me because i cant find it online and neither can i locate it in streetdirectory.com. however, i always see it across the sea whenever im at labrador park or whenever im on the ferry to batam. it is a big house that faces the sea, yes directly beside the sea and above the 'cliff'. it somewhat occurs to me as those houses i always read in stories of nora robert's. perhaps, a closer comparison will be the alkaff mansion, eerie.

afterall, singapore is not that small huh. =)

here you have it, another very random post!

every girl's best friend...

is chocolate. =) alright, almost every girl? wanted to type woman instead but thought it sounded kind of 'old',

i used to have this really huge liking for kit kat chunky but i kinda grew out of it after a while. though sinful, it helps to relieve stress, makes oneself happier and also, it cures hunger pangs! ha.

however, a few nights ago, i found a new best friend at prive @ marina at keppel bay. it's none other than the chocolate crunch with mini chocolate balls milkshake! must try, distinction yah! it eased all my grouchiness, grumpiness, unhappiness, and whatever not-so-nice-'ness' you can think of. in fact, my happiness level shot up expotentially with a gradient near infinity the moment i took my first sip. i'm not exaggerating, that was how i felt there and then. =)

another great foodie intro! was at nectarie, yesh again, on monday night and we did the white chocolate pistachio cake. it's a really great piece of creation and according to the roommate, the berries aint cheap to be used as toppings. this piece costs us $7.50. disclaimer, this cake is not the usual chocolaty-'woah nice' dessert, and it's not exactly very tasty but the more you eat, the more you want to continue eating it. in fact, eating it gave me a really peaceful feeling. not sure what the thickish green and white layers are, but both are indeed complimentary. the berries are nice, a lil sour though. and of course the white chocolate is..., need i say more?

has been feeling really under the weather these days, and i appreciate the roommate for going great lengths to appease me, even though the fault wasnt his. in fact, it wasnt anyone, im just moody.
