Counting down.

1 more day and it's 2009.

this is the time when most of us will sit down and reflect on our past year, brainstorm the resolutions for 2009 and prepare to party! ha, resolutions, such an old word. in fact, the first thing to do that comes to mind on 1st jan 2009 is to clear my room; it's in a big mess. shrugs.

i've finally settled down with this. was deciding between the white or black one, decided on the white eventually even though it's a lil more difficult to maintain. i is pan-tang la, black is not so auspicious.

by the way guys, the pics of the bbq are not with me!

i hope all the people around me will have a fulfilling 2009 ahead, and best wishes, hearts and kisses to all my loves, roommie, the gang, uob, tt, partner, vin and ms wong...

look forward to 2009!

What happens after the celebrations?

The fats literally sink in.

sometimes, i wish i can just shoo the fats away or plead with them to go away and disappear and so. i havent been exercising this week, cept for the swim on mon. im such a goner.

it didnt hit me till drey dear was lamenting bout putting on weight over the festive period. so i did a mental calculation of how much good food i've gobbled since a week ago.

21st dec (sun) steamboat lunch at home
21st dec (sun) Ace's wedding
22nd dec (mon) Xuan's wedding
23rd dec (tues) UOB gathering
24th dec (wed) party at xuan's place
25th dec (thurs) steamboat dinner at home
27th dec (sat) the gang's annual BBQ

AND tonight, im going for my cousin's wedding at noble house. that's another round of good food.
imagine the amount of meat i eat, all the chicken, turkey, honey baked ham, lamb, beef. and of course my favourite junk food.

the lucky thing is that i havent been drinking much. heng ar, less the calories in the booze department.

sulks, i shall go on a diet from tmr on.

merry xmas!

just got back from zara sale, and i see a huge hole in my pocket. haha.
the winner @ zara is GRACIE!!!

and guest of honour is benji!

and the shopping malls are filled with shoppers. tell me, where is the recession?

yunn has posted the photos during uob xmas dinner. as it's damn troublesome to save the pics to my comp. the pictures can be viewed here!

the season of love.

christmas!

this is the prettiest festive all year round. used to look forward to xmas as it spelt end of the year and school hols which equate to great fun. but after steppin into the society, while most of my peers still look forward to xmas as it also means closure of the year=clear leave=slack and have fun, im in almost a love-hate relationship with it. haha.

honestly, i could have love it still the same if only i had worked harder. irritating if onlys...but of course, no regrets here. i love xmas all the same because it's so much fun with all the gatherings and dinners. i must admit buying pressies is kinda hazzardous though because i simply dont know what to get.

had a great time catching up with the UOBs last night, photos will be up soon once yunn uploaded them on fb. my canon was low on batt, sulks. nevertheless, technology makes life easier, doesnt it?

going over to the newly wedds place tonight and it's gonna be zara sale tmr!

i is phased out.

according to zhihong, super sad.

realized that i havent spent time and efforts catching up with certain group of friends. and thanks to fb, i've seen the pics and stuff and all these make me even more sad. =(

i must make a more conscious effort. haha, but if this is the case, i will be super busy!
how bout putting this as part of resolution 2009?

my foodie treats!

first up was dinner at bugis street with the roommie and vin @ bugis, 新源记.

it's an air-conditioned eatery just beside the apple studel and it serves pretty yummilicious fishie (not fishy) stuff and zi char. used to frequent this outlet quite frequently back during the roadshow era where we had to station ourselves for days near the fountain area. the portion is reasonable and food is satisfying. most of us love both the milky slice fish and fried fish bee hoon, the sambal fried rice is good too! last heard from my folks that they've even set meals for weekdays lunch or something.

we tried something different on fri, we had the 鱼头炉 or rather the 鱼片炉. im not a fan of fish soup, so the food was just food to me. but taste wise, it still belong to the yummy category.

honestly, im not very into thick fish slices and i dont like the fish skin, i think there are scary. so whenever we go to 新源记 or holland v's XO 鱼片, you seldom see me attacking the fish meat. too thick for my preference!

xmas at bugis is pretty!

after which vin has to meet val, and the roomie and myself went on to j.co to hangout for the rest of the evening. we love j.co, great drinks and fantastic glazzy donuts that are fresh, melts in the mouth and satisfying! have i already said that i love their ice chocolate too?

information giveaway! do you know that j.co gives out free glazzy per every drink bought? i find it great marketing for their donuts and yet, at the same time, a bit backfiring cos i wont get the others (since i already have the glazzy). haha, and so, i persuaded the roommie to get another different flavour one to try out the rest.

we had fun with our food, peek-a-boo through the sweet rings!

and we got the berry heaven i think, this is damn fattening! luckily we were going for the weekly run the next day, haha.

verdict: i still prefer the glazzy. simple and nice.

and just yesterday, we lunched at botak jones! have been craving for it since thurs and since we were going to clementi, i say botak jones for lunch!

the botak burger with add-on bacon, mushrooms and cheese is still the best!

...

sometimes, the gen-y kiddos really puzzled me.
their behaviour, their lingos, their interests all speak nothing but confusion to me.

i have such a model at home, my kiddo brother.
in fact, i often think he look me no up.

haha. he uses lingo such as noob, zzz, he behaves nonchalantly, he loves to glue himself to the magic box known as computer and sometimes, he challenges our courage (his msn nick is double click at your own risk). rolls eyes. nevertheless, i find it kinda interesting and im glad that he's still my kiddo brother!

kiddo brother just started working temp at mda, and i must really compliment mda's staff pass with da happening, creative, youthful and attractive lanyard! guess it's a whole new experience for him and which is what my parents and myself are happy to see as well.

peek-a-boo through the mirror.
i is bored.

yeaps, i use weird lingo too.
there's no such thing as 'i is'. the standard is 'i am', just in case.

my new buys!

not yet, cos im meeting gin only on nxt mon. =)

but tentatively, it's all the below!

the mocha loafers were love at first sight. decided to wear more flats than heels cos there's really something wrong with my right foot. the pain on the bone is on and off and unpredictable, and each time, it hurts like shit. and evil gin msned me last night to inform me of her latest arrival, the checkered flats which look uber pretty too. so...ka-chiang, deal done.

thought the necklace might suit my wardrobe since most of the clothes are plain and in either black or white, basic colours. nevertheles, can give it off as xmas pressie should i decide that it suits my girls better. haha.

pretty dress that i chanced upon and which gin assured me that i've no qualms fitting in.

grin.

again, im bored in office. i should just slam my lappie shut and concentrate on my calls. anyway, the 'x' button on my keyboard has dropped off and i couldnt pop it back, sulks.

13 more days...

to the final showdown.
i is scared.

suddenly, my shortfall has kind of increased overnight. screams!!!

i need water!

i need water and a kit kat chunky.
water to rejuvenate myself and chunky to make myself happier!

i've got no appts in the afternoon, and i've no tele girls for this month, and i dont want to do tele myself. shucks, call reluctance. boohoohoo!

something that im not used to in the new office will definitely be the lack of h2O, super thirsty. my red nalgene is always empty. not that i dont want to fill it up, but there just isnt enough to go around. well, that's life isnt it. guess buying water will be an easier solution.

intending to go swim today but the weather doesnt look any good unless i leave for the pool right now. but, i cant leave for the pool now cos my stuff are in roommie's honda. i resolute to stay put in office until my appt at 8pm. but staying in office is scary because everyone around me is working cept for myself. it's kinda stress yet irritating. and dear partner's mickey kept staring at me, eerie.

dont be deceived by his smile, he's kinda weird and his dress sense is weird as well.

and there's the reindeer on my desk, courtesy from uob and melson; he shall be called melbie then. melbie is friendlier and he seldom disturbs me. hee. in fact, melbie finds mickey weird too cos he always stare at his butt through the translucent divider between them.

im going bonkers.

onto more normal stuff, remember artbox? i kinda consolidated what i have with the partner's and tada, a gorgeous collection of girly stuff. =) sweet.

save me.

my client's online shop!

the site is really pretty!!!
dropped her a sms this mornin to get a new bag and to also check out the mocha loafers. nice!

in fact, this is my first time doing online shopping (not exactly cos i transact direct). but i guess the main worries bout online shopping is when the sizes dont really fit and all, especially when i dont have a figure where everything simply looks good. ha.
im more into accessories and bags.

girls, go check out k. =)

the new jurong point.

is damn big. and super crowded.

the roommie wondered, did all the people living in jurong came by for a walk and dinner at the same time? haha, silly him. but honestly, the crowd is atrocious. jp is indeed a shopping mall that no matter which day, what time, festive season or not, is very packed with people. shrugs. and they even extended the carpark to a lot, a lot of lots. still, i had difficulties lookin for a space for roommie's honda. where did all these people and cars come from???

see, where is the recession?
anyway this is the new stretch of jurong point, about 200% bigger than the old one. and all the shops look so interesting, especially the stationery outlets. and guess what, i found artbox in jp. grin, artbox sells many cutesy and pretty things. and of course, my fav buys are their post-its and checklist pads. thanks to dear partner who introduced this shoppie to me. =)

and breadtalk has new stuffs, some colourful, pretty icing bites. wonder what's that yeah, but i didnt really have the chance to explore them further cos the place is damn crowded and the roommie is already quite frustrated with the crowd.

and bakerinz had a really weets display of sweet treats, looks yummilicious. a pity i didnt really take a good shoot. and it looks crappy.

and there's my fav starbucks, javachip blended. slurps.

dinner was at benten cafe, level 3 @ the old jurong point stretch. has been wanting to eat at this place with the roommie since it opened a couple of months ago, the foodie looks good whenever we passed by this place. i had the hamburger curry rice while the roommie got himself a char siew pasta (less the chilli powder in the picture) instead.

the verdict is: food is nice, but only the so-so nice. something that we might be able to find in a normal cafe and at a lower price. the hamburger patty is good though. but it's a good place to hangout and have desserts yah. the desserts look yummy, unfortunately we are already too full to eat more.

i am looking forward to...

1. partying and endless booze

2. mahjong sessions
3. the great zara sale!

the fonts on blogspot is boring, wish they will add more happening ones. seems like most of my kakis are either on super long leave or away. i was wrong when i thought only chang will be away, xm's going out of town too. at least, he promised 2 big strawberries for me when he's back from cameron.

i heart berries and cherries, all the ries...

yawns

im still in office.

not exactly working my arse off but just bumping around and trying to tie up some loose knots and working out some admin and waiting for the roommie. he is pissed off and i thought i shall just stay clear of his way. so here i am, back at my desk, my very messy desk!

yay, the roommie is done. home sweet home soon!

ps: changed the music on my blog, love this piece by john lennon. meaningful as well. =)

...

i miss my long hair.

i made a promise to myself never to cut it short again, haha. truth be told, i cut it short just for the sake of cutting it the previous time. a consolation though, it's growing longer and longer.

i've a new toy!

the nokia e71, very sleek and light, user friendly, loud ringing tones, pretty and chic, multiple functions. heard that the camera can auto-focus and all but who cares, i've got my canon with me always. on second thoughts, the cam might come in handy in clubs. grin. thanks to the roommate for letting me try-out his phone till jan 09, long story anyway. the better news is: it might be mine eventually, then i would not have to get one for myself in jan. im getting this phone anyway should he decide to take back, hee.

when i first touch and explore this chic little technology, it reminded me of the good old days spent with my first mobile set, a baby-blue nokia 8310. missed it totally. but i guess the new e71 will be super-ly under-utilized as yours truly only requires the call, sms, alarm and sometimes, the camera functions. i dont know how to download music, less downloading stuff into the phone. haha, not that they are important anyway. i have not even opened the box that the roommate passed me. and i havent even charged the phone once since 2 nights ago. this is the kind of luxury that you get to enjoy only when the phones are new, excellent battery life.

keet!!! we should take a pic soon, urs white and mine black. =)

anyway, was at PS cafe cartel for a very late dinner with roomie and vin last night. kind of celebrated his birthday with a simple dinner, though he was really appreciative about it. good luck dude, and remember our challenge! =)

caught this pic, i name it 'bliss'. the bread rocks.

the 100th post of 2008!

...is all bout updates isnt it?

no happenings in dec, it's pure work, work and work. guess why am i up so early in the morning on a sunday? it's work, first stop at compasspoint 10am --bloody far and im not driving. buttt, what to do? i need the figures to run faster before 31st dec 2008, did my sums last night and i realized im nearer to my 2008 showdown than where i thought it was. a lil happy but not so happy. in fact, it's irritating because it's a not-here-not-there figure. if it is super far, at least i can give myself a good excuse to give up. however, im facing a very do-able figure which is very possible to complete yet the little devil up there questions u 'where to find the cases?' self-doubts of what if i cant do it kicks in and all. super irritating. and not like the economy is all prosperous.

of course, i will think i can complete the race in time. december is always the harvesting month, no matter rain or shine. yay! 17 more days to this yearly marathon, and i am so going to slack after that! weets. will be out of town from 3-5th jan (hong kong) as well as a few days after the 6th. i've got through my osaka/kyoto challenge, so will be flyin over on either the 6th/7th for a 4d3n trip. ladalada-ladalada...fridge magnets for the gang!!!

chang will be out of town for work the whole of nxt week and when he's back, yc's back too! ladalada-ladalada...im in quite good spirits today, hee. positivity means a lot k.

oh and vin, happy birthday! =)

mr bean is back!

not the funny mr bean you see on tv, nor is it the mr bean who sells thick pancakes. so which mr bean is back?

find the foodies familiar?

prawn fritters, seafood food, garlic bread...mr bean cafe @ selegie yeah! the standard of the food seems to have resume, especially the seafood soup. so once again, it's back into our list of fav haunts. however, i personally feel that there's still room for improvement for the prawn fritters, do something about the batter pleeeeasssseeee. grins.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
the reason why im still up at this hour is: i cant sleep, reckon i slept too much yesterday. was damn tired after the stanchart run and i didnt really rest till night. i practically slept through the night since 1030pm until this morning at around 8am, that gave me a full and satisfying sleep.

back to the run, did my 1st 10km run and i was pretty proud of myself that i kept telling the roommate about it. you guys should know how much i dislike running and even till now, i still think i prefer the pool anytime. but ever since the more regular jogs once a week with my colleagues, i begin to like this sport a little bit more. even though we have stopped the routine for a while, i manage to convince myself to join the partner in this challenging 10km thingy. honestly, it was quite fun.

of course, i didnt run the full 10km. i came to an eventual halt as soon as i passed 6km, i felt like i might collapse anytime even though i wasnt really panting, just that my feet and ankle couldnt take it anymore or rather, my brain is still weak when it comes to running. but im glad i pushed my limits a bit further this time round. haha, by 1km! and i walked the remaining 3.5km till i thought i should at least be seen running back and i picked up my feet again. in fact, i wanted to start jogging once i crossed 8km, but my brain told me this:

brain: are u sure? if you start running now, you still have 2km to go leh!
me: oh yeah hor. 2km sounds quite a lot right?

brain: of cos!

me: but i just had some super energy-giving 100 plus you see. i should be able to do it.

brain: 2km leh, think about it. why not start when u are left with only 1km?

me: sounds good...er....

so i continued to walk..big steps of course. told you my mind is weak when it comes to running! but glad the partner and i did it together, even though she was way ahead by 6min. haha. we shall train together for nxt year too! no walking!

and while i was walking the 3.5km and enjoying the scenary, i half-wish i had my camera and notebook with me. so that i can capture the interesting things that happened along the way and jot down some funny incidents that caught my eyes. and the spectators were great and really encouraging and it's amazing to see friendly singaporeans for once. haha, not that we're known for being unfriendly but it's definitely a rare sight which i seldom get to experience. call me sua-kuist but hey, im being honest here! haha.

there was this geeky-looking bespectacled volunteer about the age of a jc student stationed at the esplanade and he's perhaps, the most interesting character i saw throughout the whole morning. when we ran/walked past, he said:

"ladies, you are doing just fine. and all of you are looking GREAT! EXCELLENT!" it's the way he said it, it was as if he memorised all these by heart, not that he wasnt sincere about what he said, but the words that came out from his mouth just didnt fit his look nor image. haha, and that made it pretty entertaining. i saw a few heads turned while i giggled away.

conclusion: 10km is tough but definitely manageable for most of us. and i applaud the full and half marathon runners, it's definitely your own race and how you are goin to run it depends on how strong-will you are. and it's so out of the reach for me, imagine running NON-STOP for 5 odd hours. urgh!

and brian, how come u didnt spot me this time round?

ps: chang, no worries. you still have me to go with you for stanchart 2009! =)
