we've got it!

7th Dec 2011, we were told to prepare the money in exchange for the keys.

so yes, we rolled the pineapple and shouted HUAT ar! not forgetting also the sprinkles of rice and salt in every corners in the new place.

and the major kaching kaching kaching begins...

we met our one and only id and the contractor a few weeks before; they were strongly recommended by a couple of his friends and since a year or two ago, he had been saying that we have to get the same contractor when our time come.

talking to the contractor and discussing about our requirments, lifestyle vs the design and practicallity of the house is one headache, sourcing the furnishing is another, checking out the nitty-gritty details as simple as the toilet paper holder is another; in short, renovation is tough.

some happy photos to share, the view that we will wake up to everyday. :) and i love the windows!

BUT before any renovation works can start at all, the first and most important thing to do is to check the house for defects and submit the list. another not so simple task! as he was concerned that the house might not be clean enough for us to spot the "defects", we went up to do its' first spring cleaning. while i'm with the broom, he's with the mop. spot maria tan and maria ong at work! it was super tiring.

tireds and i need my beauty sleep. till the next post! :)

food for thoughts.

here comes, the food we love.

 i love their gyozas!
marutama ramen. liang court.

for the first time, the boyfriend approved of the food in bakerzin. we enjoyed their seafood pie and the chicken wings, yummy! mozza was fantastic, a pity i was too hungry to take photos, hehe.
bakerzin. jp. mozza. mbs. gongcha. central. beer market. clarke quay.

desserts!
after so many reviews and ravings, i finally tried the little cups from twelve cupcakes - small, pretty, tasty but a tad pricey. loves the desserts from the prime society too, they serves really good sorbet and chocolate.
fruit paradise. vivocity. twelve cupcakes. millenia walk. prime society. dempsey hill.

and i learnt to bake a classic french chocolate ganache cake over the weekends, weets!

a man. an apple. a legacy.

"your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life.
don't be trapped by dogma - which is living with the results of other people's thinking.
don't let the noise of others' opinions drown out your inner voice.
and most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition.
they somehow already know what you truly want to become.
everything else is secondary."

my happy sunday.

i was a good girl yesterday, i took a train from hougang back to the west.
that must have been the most enjoyable ride throughout my years of taking public transport. having said that, i must confess that i drive and should i have to travel on public transport everyday, i bet nothing about public transport is fun or enjoyable.

still, i'm really pleased with myself for surviving the ride and the 'should i alight and cab?' thought didn't appear throughout it.

so what happened to wishy? one of the tyres caught a nail and it was as good as flat, shrugs. she just gotten expensive and new black rubbers for all four limbs this morning!

the bf picked me up at clementi for dinner. quoting the bf:
'the right place, at the right time.'

we went to grill-out, sunset way to feed our growling stomachs.
the moment we heard that the beef are from USA, i knew the bf had decided to dine there, haha. grill-out has really attractive promos for the weekends too, as long as orders are placed before 7pm.

while the bf tried their premium 300g ribeye, i had a seafood aglio. it's the first time i had aglio with grilled prawns, mussels, clams and sauteed mushrooms, tasty grills and great presentation! a pity that the sphagetti is a lil too chewy for me. on second thoughts, if the course had came with linguinie instead, i thought it would have lost the masculinity of the dish. the quality of the ribeye is comparable to prime society's but it only costs half the price, good deal!

i had initially wanted to spend the rest of the evenings at buttercake & cream (which was just beside grill-out), but we were a lil too full from dinner and the bf made me walked the stretch of jogging trails along the canal with him. he brought me for ice-cream after the walk though!

according to him, he wanted to bring me here long ago but it wasnt the right place, it wasnt the right time. oh well, haha.

it was our first visit, so i just went along with their recommendations. we had a lemon fizzy with lemon sorbet (damn refreshing drink) and a scoop of strawberry shortcake on warm chocolate brownie. i totally love the brownie! the ice-cream was okay as we kept tasting a tinge of durian haha, but im so going for the lychee martini the next time!

i love this pic!

it's the beginning of a new week! :)

over the weekends.

the bf and i wanted to take a hiatus from work since the japan holidays was cancelled but work had seemed pretty inconsistent that both of us were unable and unwilling to pack and go.

coincidentally, we won a night stay in amara sanctuary during the wedding show and this gave us an excuse to take 2 days off for our second staycation of the year. :) yays!

day 1 started with brunch in dome, dempsey. the place is surprisingly crowded for a working day.
even though their breakkies do not come with cuppa, their food is good stuff and we love their ambience.
i say, it's worth the try!

when we finally checked-in at amara sanctuary, we were awed by the scenary from our room. the view was beautiful, we could see the sunset and the view was exceptionally splendid at night, especially the lights at sea. the infinity pool was also on our level, very convenient. hee, it was a relaxing getaway indeed!

dinner was at trapizza along siloso beach. the pizza and pasta were pretty pricey, not so disappointing for the quality of food was able to match up, erhm except for the bbq baby ribs, i say do without the starters the next time. as we took an after-dinner stroll along on the beach, we reckoned sentosa has undergone its fair bit of changes.

our second bottle of red wine for the week.

breakkie was complimentary at shutters and the food was good stuff as well.

if you are considering a local getaway, we say amara sanctuary.
truth is, we are really happy with the stay and the services, so much that i was unwilling to pack and leave. most importantly, we are so glad that we will be holding our wedding in amara sanctuary, truly a decision well-made! :)

now that im back to reality, i say work hard, and am looking forward to the oncoming vacation to the states end of this month!
