i'm back!

cambodia has been an enriching trip; the country is simple, yet has a rich culture and history. food was great! just that the weather is a bit too hot, and being a meanie, i immediately listed a few people to the roommate whom i think cannot survive the trip, haha. it's been a great 5 days away from singapore, away from work. the holidays was so good that i even asked the roommate if we should extend our stay. but alas, the schedule is too tight for any extension. im so looking forward to the next holidays! =)

our flight on 23rd was at 6am, thus, the roommate didnt sleep while i only managed to take a 30min nap. plently of stuff to settle before we set off for the airport, basically, the 2 of us were checkin and sending emails and all. dad & mum sent us to the airport at 345am, super early and to our surprise, the flight was full; we queued for a good 20 min before our turn. after which, it was breakie time!

our first time on jetstar, hmmm, small and not much leg space, especially for the roommate. it's not our first on a budget airline though. the first time was way back in 2004 when we went to phuket on airasia, that was worse. haha.

see the little spaces we've got from our head to the seat in front, crampy. the sunrise reminds me of our sec 1 literature txtbk, red sky in the morning. and after 2 hours of sleep, here we are at siem reap international airport! we are the happy duo! =)

palm village resort, highly recommended by the roommate's cousin. it's a nice and tranquil place, located off the town area, about 15-20 min ride away. pros and cons. the place is good because of its serenity and quietness but the disadvantage at the same time is also because of its location, we cant walk to town, and that will mean we got to spend extra on the tuk tuk rides. however, the resort was a lil' under our expectations, cos we read really fantastic reviews about the place. ha, but everything looks like it's on the website. good facilities though, with a swimming pool, free internet usage and a pool table. the staff are friendly and helpful, makes guests like us feel at home. another pros, because this is something we think the hotels cant provide us with.

day 1, we've decided for it to be a relax day so we went off to town for some walk-walk. nice pictures everywhere.

do u know how hot we were??? thanks to our life-saver item 1, watson's facial spray, that keeps our skin refresh and moisturise at all times. we have a lot of life-saver items throughout the trip, hahaha.

check out the sign below, looks familiar? ha, but take a closer look at the words and you'll see the difference. grins.

well, that's all for today, as most pics are still with the roommate. haha. the pics i have on my cam is limited cos i gave up on photograhpy on the 3rd day. the weather is simply too distractin for me to do anything. haha.

greetings from siem reap!

my first time updating my trip while still overseas cos there's free usage of computer and wifi services in the resort! =)

the roommate and i are currently staying at palm village resort, a tranquil and serence place away from the city. not exactly lok-kok, but it definitely reminds me of cocohut @ perhentian and of cos, it's way more nicely decorated and equipped over here.

food has been great and drinks are pretty affordable over here despite using the greenbacks. and one thing for sure, the rice here is sooooooooo nice, soft and full, slurps. honestly, hecks the carbohydrates, it's a waste not to indulge. and sidetrack, the weather here is super hot, it's not even humid, just plain hot hot hot, about 35 degrees celcius? look, the weather is warm enough for the both of us, or at least me, to splurt vulgarities all the way. and the 2 of us even stopped in the middle of the streets just to fish out the sunblock from the roommate's bag and yes, we stood station and applied the lotion generously on the spot, no second thoughts.

till now, it's roaming and exploring the town and soaking ourselves in the pool. everything is great! next up, we have scheduled for the tuk tuk to pick us at 530am tmr to catch the sunrise at angkor wat! will update again when possible.

ps: lazy to upload the pics, will do so when we're back. =)

taiwan politics.

honestly, i think i know more about the taiwan political scene than my own nation. the reason being: im exposed to it everyday cos my parents, especially my mama dearest is a big time 马英九 fan. and so am i! haha.

while im typing this entry, i can hear vague criticism from her regarding the opponent. while typing this entry, i can hear her responding to the tvbs news. while typing this entry, i can hear both of them reassuring each other bout how good 马英九 is, or rather, how scheming and illogical the opponents are. while im typing this entry, i can hear loud voices coming from the tv, voices of the members of each party arguing and debating over the recent issues.

if you guys are aware of what's happening, the presidential election is this saturday. and in summary:

1. the greens are questioning bout 马英九's loyalty to taiwan. (of cos he loves taiwan!)
2. a huge flock of celebrities are rooting for 马英九 and were criticized by the greens.
3. the greens claiming that the blues broke into their headquarters.

and all la, lazy to type.

anyway, i spoke to kuan hsin just now and of cos, i asked him bout his choice. and since he is going to vote, i shall not disclose his vote.

on a more important note, i asked him if he knows 杨综纬!!! haha, but nope, he dont. i hope one day he will as i have asked him to introduce me once they're friends. whahaha.

how not to get fat?

beats me.

judgin from the amount of sinful indulgences each day, guess it's not too hard for the roommate and i to put on weight expotentially. sulks, but the food is really quite good. haha.

first up, supper at mr. bean cafe @ selegie area on saturday night. this is by far, one of the nicer late-night hangout place that serves good food and of course, one of our favourite places. the food used to be great, but there was this period of time where we thought that a minor overhaul was performed. the roommate believed that the chefs were changed and replaced cos the food didnt taste as good as before, something bout the batter and taste of the food wasnt the same anymore. here comes a couple of recommendations at mr. bean cafe:

1. the seafood soup is a MUST-TRY! it's hot, thick, and tasty and sooooooo niceee...
2. the platter. serves a variety of popular snacks and their prawn fritters are one of the best that we have tasted so far. the chicken wings used to be yummilicious though, it's normal now.
3. apple crumble!
4. sinful brownie
5. pizzas

cant think of much for now; drinks wise, pretty safe to go with the coffees and teas. hee. honestly, we have not tried most of the main course before cos each time we patronized, it's either late night or still late night. haha.

what we ordered that night. it's some very crunchy & yummilicious prawn fritters! the oreo cheesecake was quite a disappointment though.

and ta-da, here comes the supper on sun @ the coffee club outside california fitness (cineleisure). the nutty banana and the sherperd's pie simly rocks! amazing! it's been quite a while since we last went there.

love the ambience there, the open air and the dim lightings.

alright, 1 place that we would really love to recommend is this new outlet we chanced upon at plaza singapura's b2, hot tomato express! it's just located opposite the wang coffee joint and pizza hut. for the price that we are paying, the quality of food there is superb and it wins cafe cartel hands down.

while the roommate ordered a mix grill, i prefered a steak with king prawns. perhaps, it was due to the fact that we didnt really set high expectations or place much hope on the food served, and that actually make them even more enjoyable. super value-for-money.

ha, and even though the shop name is hot tomato express, rest assured that there's no tomato dishes. =)

Paper 1.

yesh, passed.

there's no special feelings, just a huge sense of relief. it had been a pretty long while since i last took a proper paper and honestly, it was sheer torturous studyin for it. ha, but the whole process was quite fast, 100 questions completed in 75 min. though it's been long ago since i went for exams, however, my exams habits remain. haha. one thing that i really need during exams is a bottle of water, cos i always thought it helps me to think better after a sip. another must have is a hair clip so that i can clip my hair up! hee hee. =)

no matter what, im looking forward to take the next paper. see, 犯贱.

counting down to 15th mar...

im typing this while enjoyin the final bit of my leisure time cos i promise myself that i'll hit the txtbk at 830pm sharp. today has been alright, will be better if not for the rain. it was practically rainin the whole day. see the flood at tanah merah.

haha, took this pic while waitin for the train to tanjong pagar. and i was lunching with my client at the AIRPORT before that, how cool is that!?!

i felt a gush of adrenaline pumping when i stepped into T2 this afternoon cos it's just totally cool to be at the airport even though im not travelling nor am i pickin anybody. ok, i know im weird and ulu-fart. haha, but as i said, i told my client that it's so cool (limited vocab) to work in the airport. everythin seems so nice and all. hee. the dynamics simply blew me away. it's just so woohoo to be in the airport on a normal day!

some interesting pictures.

first up, spot the difference! whahaha. we were at vivo's coffee & toast when i suddenly thought the roommate looked like my monkey!

and just yesterday, the roommate and i met up for breakfast before our course. guess where's this place?

ha, yeah at the mac outside lido. and it feels shiok to have breakfast and people-watch early in the morning. though im not exactly awake yet, but all i can say is: life is good.

feel a quiet sense of peace eating in orchard early mornin; no raffles-march, no crowds, no noise, no distractions. just hot piping cappuccino, tasty breakfast, a good read and the roommate. yes, in this way, life is good.

i is old.

somewhat, my concentration span deteriorates with aging and yeaps, this is no doubt an inverse equation. i cant exactly say who cares cos' i do care. and i swear that it wasnt like that when i was younger, i supposed many of my peers and the roommate can attest to that. alright, this whole study saga just sucks, period.

i know i've been complainin too much about it, too much till it's kinda overwhelming. bear with me, as i can only complain. like most of us, i just want to get it over and done with, pass it the first time and moves on. and since i want to pass it, i can only study for it. note i just want to pass it, i have no big ambitions to ace the paper. seriously, i attribute all the frustrations, poor attention span, reluctance to study and all to aging.

guess the bottomline is that i is old. but on second thoughts, that's not an excuse either. what to do? study lo.

i is loserish. major sulks.

and here comes the partner!

ta-da!

grin, this babe kinda gave herself this name and she insisted on being known as the partner from now on. hee, if you're still wondering how i manage to get this pic, yours truly is a pretty smart and amazing chic who knows how to save images from friendster yah.

the reason why we're partners is bcos we have hired our PA today! both of us are so happy that we've finally found someone who we believe that can be of great help to our career and at the same time, we're excited to welcome her on friday. =) it's like a great relief off the chest yah as the entire search-for-the-PA-saga was extremely cumbersome and taxing. and again, i emphasize, the keyword is FINALLY!

yay, my files are going to be saved at long last!

most importantly, im looking forward to our new partnership and hope everything will go smoothly and works out better than we expect. and partner, one thing that i must really make clear to you is that: look, i've never stalked you!

it's simply coincidental and amazing how i always bumped into her on the expressway. hee.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
and now, it's back to these again...major sulks.

the root of all evils...

heavenly, yummilicioussssss chocolates...from royce.

it's not too sweet and it's so soft that it just stays and lingers in your mouth. totally heart it.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
had been a busy week and it was pretty fulfilling. however, the chfc paper on this coming sat is getting on my nerves. somehow, i dont seem to be able to absorb as well as before. and yes, i totally dread studying for it. and i guess that's why im still at chapter 2 after so long and many attempts. major sulks.

big thanks to the roommate for his support and constant naggings. haha, and he believes that he'll be of help if i dont understand any chapters cos he's been there and done that. these days, our favourite haunt is west coast mac! im quite sure we can be spotted quite frequently over at the mc-cafe area from now till his papers in april. it's been a long while since our mugging days in ntu. major sulks.

and blogger has been apologetic today but look, i dont want your apologies. just upload the photos properly and faster the next time yah! and i still cant post the remainin photos, major sulks.

sigh, guess blogger has monday blues too?

dinner & dance 2008 @ pan pacific.

dug my NJ uniform out a few days ago, all for yesterday's d&d cos the theme was...

back to school days!

first up, the roommate & i. hee, a clarification, he's not from cat high.

the japanese school gals, pearly, yuying, fion, angela, carolina & celene! and sailormoon-moon!

the sweetie-pie girl guide, stef & sexy nurse, joelle.

with smartie-pants: ryan from RI and liqiang from chinese high.

true-blue bpian mark! and raymond from cck.

the ah-bengs. aaron from dont know where & alvin from cj. haha.
ok, i dont know wat schools are they from. kimi & shannon!

the cat high boys, jason, the roommate & joe.

smith & shuming! hee, cant really tell which sch is smith from but shuming's a maris guy.

the chong cheng guys, jimmy, cesheng & vincent.

ms tan, the librarian! and ms song, the ex-st johns gal.

jomei before & after transformation.

and siwei, the st nicks girl. check out the belt and stockings, i think it's quite fashionable of them to wear the uniform. nice! er, btw, where is qiaoru??!??

we are JC students! with aj's meishi, sa's liwei, jj's philip and ace, who seems to be from acjc. and of course, fen-jie. her new lexus 2-door is damn chio.

the oldest student around! mr koo mingwei! grin, and connor. =)

h89-ers gals and our big boss, peter. =)

inside the ballroom itself, look at what's inside of our doorgifts! childhood treats e.g. vitasoy, the k.a.k.a. chicken corn snack, the 10 cents blackcurrant flavour chew, ding dang with free toy, corn snack, care bears memo pads and etc!

students drinking beer. gotcha!

and yes, my first time winning a lucky draw! though it's only the 24th prize and it's a casino watch, it's a damn vintage gold casino watch. looks pretty good! but check out where it was bought from?

the dnd ended at almost 12am and the roommate and i were kinda tired by then. both of us were already yawning away and we decided to head home instead of st james. but before that, we had satays @ the esplanade!!! i heart satays even though they're fattening and all! and initially, we wanted to take a stroll after the food, but realized we were catchin quite a bit of attention. no matter what, we were 2 students (a cat high boy and a nj gal) eating supper at 1.15 in the morning. though we did refrain from holding hands in public, whahahha. we were scared cos there's stomp-ers everywhere! oh and i drove and in fact, lots of us drove. haha, so we were deliberating if we would be stopped by the traffic police and all but we concluded that they should be too busy keeping a lookout for selamat to have the excess time to catch us.

and come to think of it, he's still at large. where the hell is he hiding at all this while?
back to the dnd, it was darn fun dressin up as students again. and the emcee is super duper marvellous! justin dominic mission, he's da man! quick witted, fast, talented, and so on...no amount of words can justify his expertise. by far, he's the best emcee i've seen!
not a very long post, but i spend hell of a time posting the photos. sweats.
