the food is defintiely good but unfortunately, im not a huge fan of eggs, so it's just any other meal for me, grins. i love their menu though, isnt it cute? parking is a little tough but as long as it's not the weekends, i believe it should be fine.

he's 31!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
(super belated post, should have been on the 12th May)

*cake was specially baked by yours truly the night before!

as it was drizzling that morning, the birthday surprise kicked off with sipping hot cuppas in casa verde. it's amazingly crowded for a thursday morning. my second time in casa verde and i totally heart the ambience!

i love this photo!

sunshine after the rain and the real picnic begins!

what's in the basket?
- the birthday cake!
- homemade k.jelly with cocktail
- yummy pastries from delifrance
- meiji plain crackers with mayonnaise tuna (the crackers are damn good!)
- chips
- pink guava juice and of cos, water!

i thought he already guessed that we would be picnic-ing on his bday because i very smartly 'retrieved' our picnic mat from his car a few days before. however, the ground was still wet from the rain, so we simply settled in one of the pavillions and began our feast. i love the air in the botanical gardens!

our next destination was in sentosa and damn, that place has changed so much. there's even a 24-hours mcdees now k! it was our first time doing a staycation in singapore. for the past years, birthdays were usually spent overseas. but we thought we were going to spend a bomb on our japan trip (which was unfortunately cancelled due to the aftermath of both the earthquake and tsuinami), so we decided to keep birthdays simple this year. though there had been really bad reviews on the rooms in siloso beach resort (mainly on how badly maintained and dirty they were), we thought the rooms were acceptable. and the swimming pool is great AWESOME! we should have brought cammy out for some shots of the pool and the waterfall. we totally heart the pool!

bday dinner was at il Lido, sentosa golf club. we like that place; food was good, ambience was good and services were great! :) we say try it!

once again, happy birthday!!! :)

The silly letter.

Got this in one of  my favourite read and i decided no harm having a lil' fun. :)

Dear Butty,

I don't really know how to tell you this, purple hedgehogs want to destroy you. I think I realized it when i see the purple monkey with George Bush and Stephen Harper and I saw you drive over my boyfriend. I'm sure you're shamed enough to understand that you need to have a sex change. I'm returning your toe ring to you, but I'll keep the results of the blood sample as a memory. your vote is secret.

apparently not so with the extensive network and expansion of social media.

the huge chunks of online postings on facebook is a clear demostration of the power of social media. mine is almost flooded with political videos, comments and who said what with regard to the previous night's rally. to an extent, some even openly declared and pledged their loyalty online and there you have it, your vote is no longer secret. talk is cheap but let's all be mindful about the social responsibility that comes with what have been said, regardless you mean what you've said or not.

without doubt, im one of the kaypohs who is very much interested in the battle ongoing in aljunied grc. if the ruling party wins, there's a likely chance that we might have even lesser opposition voices in the parliament for at least the next 5 years. if the opposition wins, we will lose an awesome minister (awesome according to the masses). how about who serves the fellow singaporeans living in aljunied grc better? arent the basis and purpose of an election about choosing the people you want and trust to speak yours and your neighbours' thoughts during parliament?

while there's an influx of some really promising candidates from the opposition, the ruling party has not quite met the expectations with its batch of new candidates. yea im definitely biased here, because i'm not convinced what good can that particular lady candidate in the ruling party can do for us and the nation at this moment. and speaking of the rallies, well, there are simply too many sides of every argument and i really think everyone is right in their own way. it's all a matter of perceptions isnt it?

on a national level, let's bear in mind the most crucial and important growth for singapore is our economic growth. people, let's not forget 有国, 才有家! a prosperous and boosting economy is essential espeically in a country so small!

so, i say to each his own.

if you are risk adverse and are happy with status quo, opt for no change in your neighbourhood. if you are a risk taker and stands by 'never try, never know', by all means, go for what you think is right.
vote objectively, vote informed, vote not against your own conscience. still, it's such an irony because the greatest enemy of any developing-developed country is no change.

for me, my vote is secret and so should yours. :)
